2003 Cubs Illustration: Patterson blows out a knee

He was having what I believe must have been his career year, but Corey Patterson blew out a knee running past first base, and never was himself ever again.

Wrigley Field Concession Guy Humor

 

This guy doesn't remember me, but I sit right around the corner from him.
Our seats are up pretty high, but the view is amazing and I can get up at the end of an inning, head on down and get a frosty cold Bud and a dog with grilled onions from him, then go sit back down without missing a play.
Even though this joke is pretty corny, when he says this to you live and in person you'll laugh out loud.
I have about a dozen times.

The Leprechaun of Wrigleyville

This guy, I never got his name, but he passed away last summer. 

Sometimes he'd walk to the street and hold up his little cutting board sign, but usually he just sat in the alley watching people drive by on their way to a park in somebody's garage. He had an old black and white on a shelf in his own garage before tv went all digital on him.

I parked in this alley last year and it's gotten pretty evolved. Some of these guys have cemented over their entire back yard to accommodate a ton of cars and my little VDub. Wonder what they'll be charging this year.

Anyway, it's St. Patrick's Day so maybe give a little toast to the Leprechaun of Wrigleyville.
