I was trying to think of what to paint for Ted, after he once again helped get a W flag to fly at Wrigley.
And then I looked down.
Ahhh.
A rock.
That's Ted Lilly.
Like a rock, steady as a rock, all that.
He went 8 innings, gave up 4 hits, walked none and struck out 5.
Cubs 2 Astros nothin'.
Rockin'.
When we were talking with Larry O'Brien at that Washington game, he was saying how much Ted wants to stay in Chicago.
Well, if I'm Tom Ricketts, I'd be thinking that's the very first order of business to take care of.
Lilly's been the rock of the rotation since he got here, and if he stayed here til he retires well, that would rock.
And today at 1:20 will be the rained out make up game between the Cubs and Sox at Wrigley.
Ryan Dempster vs. young Carlos Torres.
Carlos has pitched 9.1 innings, given up 2 homers and 7 earned runs.
So of course the sarcastic side of me says he shuts the Cubs out.
But you know what?
I'm gonna stop that for today.
I think Derrek Lee is on a quiet mission right now - if anybody's had a rock solid bat this year it's been him.
He hit his 27th homer yesterday, and I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he does it again today.
Rock on, Cubs.
Hey, this is what it looked like here about 6 am.
Still haven't caught the musky, but you know that thing where they say every ten thousand casts you get a musky strike?
I modified it to...
When you're musky fishing, once every hundred casts you're allowed to open a beer.
Ahhh.
That sounds alot friendlier doesn't it?
