Man, this is a real shame.
The 2 most must-watch guys on the Cubs, down for the count.
We were at the game where Fuld did whatever he did...at first it was his wrist but I guess it's his thumb.
And we were way down in front where, you know, the people just seemed a little more reserved or polite or something.
And it was such an astonishing catch, and I was so lengthy and loud about my praise and in such full use of the most colorful kind of language...
I finally shut up when I started to get some looks.
Reed Johnson, we haven't seen him forever.
But here's what he said in the Trib:
"Whether it's one game or 10 games, I want to get back in there and play," Johnson said. "If I know I can play physically and not re-injure myself, and I can play through whatever residual pain I have in my foot, I don't know if I could look at myself in the mirror, knowing there were 10 games left and I just shut it down."
How can you not love that guy?
So, it's a full on race between Reed and Sam to see who can get back on the field before the season ends.
In the great scheme of things, last night was just another loss.
But in the Wild Card race I'm allowing my head (but not my heart yet) to pay attention to, it was a body blow since Colorado pulled their game out and knocked the Cubs back to 6 and one half games out.
Damn.
Rich Harden - he's gotta find himself.
But I watched the whole shootin' match because the Cub bats have been battling lately.
It's not just a write-off when they go down by some runs.
Mikey Fontenot, he might be starting one of those streaks of his we haven't really seen this year.
Got pulled for So Taguchi last night, which kinda bummed me out.
The Cubs lose to the Brewers 9-5, and you have to think the bullpen's kinda beat up after Carlos' relatively short outing the day before.
But today's another day, it's gorgeous out, and it's Randy Wells vs. 5.85 and 4-7 Dave Bush.
1:20.
Turn on your radio.
Oh, forgot something.
Aramis Ramirez.
Yeah, he had an E last night, but...
That guy has to get the Biggest Balls of the Year award.
You see him make that dive to his right and throw out...can't remember...but Aramis threw from his knees to get him?
I have to think that the amount of pain he experiences just from the dive alone would make you or me go vomit in the corner.
Guy's a stud.
