Eeeeeeee HA!
Turn up the music and pass that jug - something unexpectedly awesome happened for the Cubs last night!
Tom Gorzelanny earned a pie-in-the-face and shocked the hell out of... well I figure everyone last night when he went 7 1/3 innings and gave up only one run on another one of those nights when you just don't want to see the spent bullpen at all.
When the Cubs picked him up, I figured they basically got a goofier-named Glendon Rusch.
But when he struck out emerging Cub killer Joey Votto in the first, I sat up in my chair.
What a pleasant surprise this is.
I don't really need to talk about the 9th here.
Angsted enough in yesterday's post.
This dumpy little disrespected trade that Jim Hendry made just might turn out to be a little bigger than I thought.
I already like John Grabow.
Okay so the Cubs are in position to sweep the Reds when they're at the lowliest I've seen 'em in a long time.
And they need to win every single one of these "easy" games because guess who the Cardinals play this month?
Pittsburgh, Washington, Cinci, San Diego and Houston.
The only winning team they play is the Dodgers.
So...GO CUBS!
PS: I read about Lou's pina colada episode he had the other night when he thought he was gonna have one, but like a graphic car-wreck story at dinner, his bullpen ruined his pina-appetite.
Cracked me up.
