Sure, I sound like a spoiled ass, but yesterday's marathon stinker was just a brutal thing to sit through.
I was in the car listening during the last 3 hours, and I couldn't turn it off.
This morning, I tried to describe the experience to Bill Cimino and he goes, "Sounds like stepping in dog crap and having the smell last for 3 hours."
Exactly.
The helpless bats could NOT get a clutch hit - that was actually true for both the Reds and the Cubs.
Cubs.com calls the game a "thriller".
Nothing could be further from the truth.
It was the longest annoyance of all time.
Every time either team got people in scoring position, they hit into a double play.
It was a battle of dog crap vs. dog doo.
Plus, despite another awesome outing, young Randy Wells is still missing a W.
Anyway, the Cubs pulled it out finally in the 14th inning, knocking in 3 runs against a guy named Mike Lincoln for the 6-3 victory.
Maybe this is good.
Maybe the Cub bats are just getting the bad days out of the way now.
At least they won this one, on a day when, as Pat put it on the radio, "the Cubs can't buy a clutch hit."
Good God, imagine my mood had they lost.
Okay, shutting up now.
Sorry for my spoiled rant.
