Ahhhh, so much can happen in a season, but Ted Lilly's off to a pretty great start.
In the NL, there are 7 pitchers tied for the lead in victories with 5 apiece including Terrible Ted, who has 5 wins and 2 losses.
And most of those guys have already had 8 starts while Ted's had only 7 - so there's a chance that Ted could be the first to 6 games in the NL.
In the AL, Roy Halliday has 8 freaking wins already, and that Zack Grienke guy from Kansas City has 7 wins and a .60 ERA.
I told you I bought that MLB.com package, which is only good for teams other than the Cubs unless I'm traveling (they black out all Cub home games because I live in Chicago, which REALLY pisses me off), so sometimes I turn that on at home and watch other teams, sometimes even 4 games at once.
I might even get to know other teams besides the Cubs this year...for sure I'm gonna catch that Grienke next time he pitches.
Anyway, we're not even a quarter of the way into the season, and even a simpleton like me can figure that... well lets see if you round off the quarter season thing and multiply 5 times the remaining (holding up fingers) one, two, three quarters of the season you get fifteen plus the five he's won already and I'VE GOT IT!
20 wins for Ted Lilly!
And if he wins tomorrow of course that projects out to 24!
But lets not get greedy here.
Just a little sub-plot to the season that I'll be keeping an eye on.
Not sure if you know this, but I hate the Astros.
And losing to them when their bullpen is pretty much spent or injured and they start a guy with the .844 ERA, well, kinda ruined Sunday.
That along with the Hawks not lookin' too sharp.
But tomorrow we're back to the Cubs vs. the Cardinals.
At the end of this series we won't even be into June yet, but we'll have played 10 of the 16 games against them for the '09 season.
After this there's only 3 in July and 3 in September - so don't miss a pitch.
Tuesday night Terrible Ted goes for W #6 vs. the Cards and Joel Pineiro in St. Louis.
Wednesday we'll see the return of Chris Carpenter and Rick Ankiel.
Gimme the remote.
