I missed it yesterday, but Sutter texted me this: "Lilly is throwing batting practice. Gotta love the WBC."
I'd love to just heap more dislike upon the WBC for how Ted Lilly was used or not used there, and how that may be contributing to him being behind, but in reality Ted started out last year with a rotten April.
He gave up 4 runs in 4 2/3 innings in a 2-8 loss to the Brewers, then 5 runs in 3 2/3 in a 10 - 8 win over the Pirates, 5 runs in 4 1/3 in a 1-7 loss to the Phils, 5 runs in 6 in a 2-9 loss to the Reds, and finally got going in his 5th start giving up 1 run in 6 innings in a 8-1 Cub victory over the Mets.
So, you hope that his arm's not further behind than that because of the WBC.
But I'm not gonna worry about Ted Lilly.
Guy's an animal.
His arm just needs to catch up with the rest of him.
Today is David Patton/Chad Gaudin/Angel Guzman day.
Somebody's gonna win a spot and somebody's gonna leave the team perhaps based on what happens today vs. the Yanks.
I would imagine they'll announce tomorrow, and the game is on your computer for free again today.
Lets see what happens.
