So, after yesterday's revolting 2-8 loss to the Cards, what do you say?
Pick one:
1) "It's early."
2) "Look at all these injuries!"
3) "When you're up against a Mitchell Boggs, well, sometimes you just have to tip your cap."
How's about just wake the frick up, dudes?
I don't spend alot of time looking at stats, it IS early.
But when I went to Cubs.com and clicked on "stats" I couldn't believe my eyes.
LOOK AT THOSE NAMES.
(Also, note the big ad urging you to nominate your Cubs for All-Star consideration!)
I'll ruin my Sunday if I dwell on that, so instead I'm thinking about the AWESOME Chicago Blackhawks.
Did you catch that last night?
They looked like a swarm of pissed off wasps.
When they skate like that, you really can let your mind go and think some impossible thoughts...
I heard that if Anaheim actually does pull off the San Jose upset, then the Hawks' next foe would be the Detroit Red Wings.
Hell, if they win this round I won't care who the Hawks play.
But Detroit would be a pretty special matchup.
Okay, today is going to be the first time in forever that I'll actually get to watch a whole Cubs game, because I am NOT going into the office today.
And of course it's Todd Wellemeyer.
In 17 innings he's given up 29 hits and 10 earned runs.
If the Cubs can't hit this guy even with Milton and Aramis on the bench, I'll hit the freaking roof.
And if I'm Lou Piniella, I'd be pretty close to blowing up in a real rage (as opposed to a strategically conjured rage).
The Cubs look like pixies right now.
