So, you're David Patton.
Never pitched above single A.
Lou and Larry want to see how you deal with pressure.
Try this: the first couple games at the brand new Yankee Stadium.
Go strike out Yankee captain Derek Jeter.
Or Mark Teixeria maybe.
Hell, even Melky Cabrera...
Oh, just an exhibition game, right?
My guess is that place will be pretty full, even if the weather is terrible.
MLB.com is letting everybody watch for free (as long as you're registered).
We'll see who the last two slots in the bullpen go to.
Lou made a giant deal about the bullpen at the convention, and while all my attention was on the lefty bats, he's right.
The bullpen will be, except for Carlos Marmol, completely new (read here).
I figure Jeff Samardzija goes to Iowa, they keep Patton because he's their new young talent, they keep Gaudin because of his experience (even though his spring SUCKED), and Guzman is the guy they let go because he's yesterday's news and one throw from the DL.
But, I'm generally wrong.
Anyway, can you imagine being David Patton?
If he goes from single A up to not only the Bigs but to the Cubs, his story will be truly amazing.
I'm so gonna watch.
