Hey, I'm not judging a guy before he gets here, but I've been reading around and it seems somehow "official" that Aaron Miles is already the starting Cubs second baseman.
I know better than to pay attention too much to anything written right now, but it's odd.
Maybe I'm touchy.
But I'm pretty sure that Lou will have an open mind about a little competition, and I'm also pretty sure that Mike Fontenot might have a little say in the matter.
Last year he played in 119 games, had 243 at bats with 74 hits including 22 doubles, a triple, and 9 homers.
He hit .305, slugged .514, had on on base percentage of .395, and scored 42 runs.
Miles played in 134 games, had 379 at bats with 120 hits including 15 doubles, 2 triples and 4 homers.
He hit .317, slugged .398, had an on base percentage of .355 and scored 49 runs.
Pretty big difference in playing time, but his numbers are certainly worthy of more pre-season ink than Fontenot seems to be getting.
Guy has some pop.
I remember when he first came up, and Alfonso Soriano said of Fontenot, "He has crazy power."
Nothing against Aaron Miles, I'm glad he's here and I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of a player he is, but I've been a Fontenot guy for awhile now so... lets see what happens.
Lastly, I assume you're familiar with Andy Warhol and the Pop Art movement he was a giant part of.
Pop.
Ha ha.
Damn I'm funny sometimes.
Lastly lastly, the French guy's arm getting ripped off looked silly on Lost last night, but I am SO GLAD it's back on. The guy who plays Jack's (dead? ghost? smoke monster alter ego?) dad could have been cast as Ward Cleaver in another time.
I think that's why he freaks me out so much.
