I don't even really know when the Hall Of Fame voting happens.
Can't remember.
All I know is Ron Santo should be in Cooperstown.
And this other election thing, it's kind of important too.
I voted last week
The volunteers were... I guess you'd say narrow minded and humorless.
They had a row of seats, maybe 20, and every time someone got up to vote, you had to move your butt to the next chair.
Like if you didn't move over, then someone would appear from somewhere and take the seat.
I felt like I was in gradeschool playing that game where when the music stops you have to sit in a chair or you're out.
Of course, when it was finally my turn, I put in the little starter card and a message came on the screen that said the machine was out of paper.
To a volunteer, I said, "My machine is out of paper."
"HIS IS OUT OF PAPER!" she said immediately.
And then the volunteer by the front walked to center stage in front of everyone sitting on the chairs, and points to me.
"YOU!" he said, "DON'T SIT DOWN AGAIN. STAND IN THE FRONT OF THE LINE AND TAKE THE NEXT MACHINE."
I felt unusual, but I walked to the front of the line.
"HEY, HOW COME THAT GUY GETS TO TAKE CUTS!" said a guy about 6 seats back.
"HIS MACHINE IS OUT OF PAPER." said the volunteer.
"YEAH, WELL..." said the 6 seat back guy.
And that's when I understood the whole move your butt one seat at a time thing.
So, I totally forgive the volunteers for being narrow minded and humorless.
Just comes with the territory, I guess.
Okay - lets pray that young Kyle Orton's high ankle sprain will still allow him to get back sooner than later, that Mr. Santo gets in the hall, and...
Go Voters!
