Congratulations to Michael Phelps for joining the All Time Stud Athletes Of Forever Legend Club.
8 gold medals, eclipsing Mark Spitz by uno.
I'm sure you've read about that, right?
Well, a couple years ago, brown was the new black.
I still have the brown pants I wore twice to prove it.
This year Phelps is the new Spitz.
And now I'm hoping the Cubs become... the new Yankees.
Gross?
Not really.
I'm talking about ownership.
If Mark Cuban becomes the new Tribune Company, then maybe the Cubs can become the new Yankees.
That's not such a bad thought, is it?
I was kinda put off when Cuban jokingly said he was gonna rope off a little area in the bleachers for him and his buddies, but now I'm thinking that's kinda cool.
How many times have you seen the shot of Owner Blank, sitting in a skybox with a tie on, secluded from the people making him rich?
Maybe it's time for something different.
Not that this season has been anything less than beyond my wildest dreams regarding the winning thing - I couldn't be happier about that.
I just want it to be normal that the Cubs are... good.
Weird thought, right?
I don't know all the details about does the team come with the park and all that, in fact I purposely don't pay attention to it because the whole deal with Zell gives me gas.
But if the Cubs are gonna be sold, it might as well be to someone with that kind of passion.
No matter what you thought of George Steinbrenner, he wasn't boring and the Yankees um, won a few.
And... that's what we might expect from Mr. Cuban.
That's all.
Okay, bring on Dusty and the Reds and Marty Brenneman.
Rich Harden, you deserve another Cub W.
ps: uh, not the best job on the likeness of Phelps and Spitz, but you know... this is a baseball blog.
