Everybody contributes on this Cub team.
Just when you thought maybe Daryle Ward was sort of... baggage, he comes through with the huge 9th inning clutch 3 run homer - the final dagger in the gigantic Cub W over the Marlins in Florida.
Carlos Zambrano started, but seemed out of sorts giving up 4 runs in 6 innings.
Aramis sat out, so DeRosa plays 3rd and goes 1 for 1 (he walked a bunch), scoring 3 times and his one hit goes out of the park for a 2 run dinggger.
Chad Gaudin goes 2 innings of no hit ball for the win, and Kerry Wood closes, striking out 2.
Still a little rusty, he walked a guy and had a wild pitch and he hit a guy (but it was in the shirt, so I'm not counting it).
The Cubs are now 30-30 on the road, winning their last 9 road games in a row.
Wow.
So I sat down with Wyatt and played a little celebratory Gears of War.
I'm kinda terrible, but who cares?
Tonight I'm thrilled to say Sean Marshall is getting a start against Fish pitcher Anibal Alejandro Sanchez.
This season Sean's gone 38 innings, while Anibal's gone 17.2, so... not like anybody's got some big experience advantage.
6:05 Chicago time, don't miss a minute.
