Rich Harden, Meet Larry, Curly and Moe.

3stooges

Was that comedy?
Was that some kind of pie-in-the-face welcome for Rich Harden that went out of control?
When Harden left the game, he'd gone 5 1/3 innings, struck out 10, and the score was Cubs 7 Giants zeerow.
Then, it turned into an episode of the 3 Stooges.
I don't know what is up with Carlos Marmol, but he was pretty Moe-like with the control.
And his fielding!
Then Larry at short did the old poke in the eye from his back, flipping the ball over whoever was near second base and allowing yet more runs to score.
In the dugout, Curly finally realized that Moe-mol had just failed to retire 8 consecutive batters, and brought in Sean Marshall to return us to our regularly scheduled programming.
Seriously, I can only joke because the Cubs pulled it out.
Harden didn't get his deserved win, but at least the Cubs did.
Ryan Theriot has been a freaking genius lately with the bat and the glove, he just tried to do too much.
Carlos Marmol will be fine - he looked like he dinged himself a little when he fielded that...was that a bunt?
Can't remember - I just remember Carlos landing funny and taking forever to get up.
And Lou, it turned out, was helping Carlos learn a lesson by leaving him in there.
Basically he said, "See what happens when you try to do the spectacular when all you really need is the out"?
If you heard his post game, it was pretty illuminating.
Theriot was 3 for 4, Fontenot with a clutch RBI single, D. Lee with only 2 hits but smacking the ball all over, Edmonds with the double, the homer and 4 RBIs, DeRo with the triple and 2 runs scored, and Speedy Reedy Johnson with the super clutch walk off single to end it.

With the Cubs up 7-zip, the funniest line came from 7th inning stretch singer Dick Butkus, who after belting out (he looked like he was in pain the whole time) "Take Me Out To The Ballgame", shouted "Lets score another touchdown!"

Rich Harden, I'd never seen you before in my life.
You look spectacular.
This is already the greatest season since '03, and you're just gonna make it better.
And the fact that the Cubs pulled this game out differentiates them from Cub teams of the past, who wouldn't have recovered from the 3 Stooges episode.

Today will be Ryan Dempster vs. Terrible Tiny Tim Lincecum, who just beat the Cubs in their last series.
Please, no funny stuff today guys.
It looks like a beautiful day for a ballgame.
Go Cubs.

ps: Hey cousin Gurke's John, Rob, Deb and Kate - thanks again for meeting up. That was serious fun.
