I know I know...
There isn't room for a .300 singles hitting slow outfielder on this team.
Just once in awhile I think about Matt Murton, working so hard his whole life to not get on the magic bus that is our favorite team this year.
Every time I've heard him speak he seems like such a good guy, and his is the hardest road.
I suspected when Alfonso went down that they'd bring up Patterson and leave Matt behind, and when it happened I looked at the Iowa stats.
Murton's hitting .311 with 56 hits in 180 at bats.
Only one of those hits is a homer, and he's only got 14 RBIs.
28 walks, but this Cub team seems to be the most plate-patient I've ever seen.
The other bad thing about going to the Iowa stats page is seeing that Felix Pie has the worst average on the team, hitting .193.
Eww.
And did you know Jason Dubois is still with the club?
Thought he got traded...
Okay, enough of that - the Cubs started interleague play with a 2-3 loss in Toronto against AJ Burnett.
Not a real inspiring game, and the ball hitting the ump thing negating Fukudome's run - I felt pain.
11 guys left on base - another eww in the same post.
But about noon today it'll be hopefully-pointed-in-the-right-direction Jason Marquis against 8-5 Roy Halladay who has beaten the White Sox and Yankees among others.
We're gonna go walk around the Old Town Art Fair, maybe even bring the dogs.
I'll be the guy with the transistor and the poop baggies.
