A perfect storm of Cub Bats.
For one inning, you could see everything clicking at top speed, all tuned and humming and fortunate.
Potential turned into action.
Well, maybe the Marquis single was a little flukey...
Couple weeks ago you thought well...maybe Jim Edmonds is a good idea, not really sure.
Now, that guy is a Cub.
2 homers in the same inning on one leg, that's pretty major league stuff there.
Mike Fontenot and Aramis hit em out too.
Fukudome had a huge single...it was just one thing after another.
This was right after the Sox had gone up 4-1, and their fans around us were starting to get loud.
But in that 4th inning, I snuck a shot of the guy 2 seats over - that looks like what it had to feel like.
Finally, Ozzie lifted Contreras (Ozzie's getting beat up in the press again today over that), and whoever the next guy was gave up the 2nd Edmonds homer.
After that, it was pretty much over.
Howry hiccuped up some in the 9th, and Lou brought Kerry Wood in to get the last out.
Cubs 11 Sox 7, people all chanting "SWEEP" on the way out.
I was surprised there were no obvious high/tight pitches from the Sox, no brushing back.
Then again, still 4 games with them.
Okay, how's about that sweep now?
ps: Didn't mention it yesterday, but from what I heard Zambrano's shoulder looked pretty good in the MRI, he's on the DL for a couple starts. That's okay with me. I think Sean Marshall's coming.
