Cubs 4 Astros 5.
I’m a little angry this morning, so I’m gonna take it out on the biscuithead who came up with this “It’s gonna happen” slogan.
I remember the first time I saw it I just thought it was a lame way for some guy to sell t-shirts, flatly stating the Cubs go all the way, right?
Well, the other day I was following the conversation at a cool Cubs blog called A League Of Her Own (LOHO), and somebody there pointed out that in fact this slogan doesn’t necessarily have a positive meaning.
The “It’s” part can mean anything.
Like “Collapse” or “Disaster”.
“1969: It’s Gonna Happen”, how’s that sound?
After last night’s loss, that could be what your sign or t-shirt means.
You know the guy’s (John Murray) just trying to make a buck with this year’s version of “In Dusty We Trusty”.
But if he’d put the words “Cubs” or “World Series” in there to define what he wants his idea to mean, legally he’d probably have to share profits with MLB.
So he went completely generic with it, and now those words are all over the place.
You’ve been duped.
Should the Cubs fail, this slogan could easily be this year’s version of the goat.
So my advice to everyone would be to burn anything with these words on it, and DO NOT buy anything else with “It’s Gonna Happen” printed on it.
