Watched the All-Star game last night.
Don’t know who the announcers were, but the interview and subsequent talk about Barry…sounds like the marching orders for TV is: make peace with Barry.
The one guy was saying something like – like it or not we’re going to have to live with the steroid era. Baseball’s not going to toss out any records. And the guy (I’d never seen him before) was throwing around some pretty big numbers – I think he said maybe 70% of the players were probably doing steroids…(would you think it higher?)
Anyway, I’m not going to say anything bad about Barry Bonds, but I’ll paint this picture.
Taking performance enhancers is one thing.
Lying is another.
What did we learn from Pete Rose?
One lie leads to another, and your Pinocchio Nose will just keep on growing.
Okay enough.
The game was a pleasure, with D. Lee and Alfonso being pretty respectable Chicago reps.
The inside the park homer by Ichiro, Griffey’s throw to the plate nailing A-Rod, and that Met shortstop Jose Reyes is just...wow.
The San Francisco park is really gorgeous but freaky with the weird-bouncy walls (and I know sometime a great white shark is gonna eat one of those kayak people).
So…great game.
Now, back to business and the Houston Astros coming to Wrigley.
Go Cubs.
